Cornus kousa chinensis (Chinese Dogwood)
The Kousa Dogwood, as it is sometimes called grows to a height of 20 - 30 feet, with a spread of 20 - 30 feet also. It grows in climate zones 5 - 8, with dark green leaves changing to scarlet in the fall. This large specimen was photographed at Longwood Gardens in the spring, while showing off its flowers. The leaves are 2 - 4 inches long, and 3/4 - 1 3/4 inches in width.
